EMISSION-FREE STERILIZATION

Emission-free sterilization of hazardous substances with exhaust air filtration and condensate sterilization

Whenever a laboratory works with genetically modified organisms, infectious material or pathogens, the steam sterilizers used are subject to special technical requirements. These always apply in safety level 2 laboratories and in S1 laboratories whenever RG1 biological agents with sensitizing or toxic effects are to be autoclaved. In order to effectively deactivate contaminated waste, a fractionated pre-vacuum can be used for solid waste. In addition, the resulting condensate must be sterilized, which must remain in the autoclave for the entire sterilization process. Exhaust air filtration ensures the aerosol protection required from safety level 2.

This makes our FA module suitable for the sterile disposal of potentially infectious laboratory waste of protection classes 2 to 4 as well as for the sterile disposal of GMOs from laboratories of safety levels 2 to 4. Short pipe runs enable a constant sterilization temperature even in the exhaust air filter, which can be replaced particularly quickly and easily.

FA module exhaust air filtration with condensate sterilization

Our module option for the safe sterilization of hazardous substances enables efficient autoclaving with the highest safety standards: Aerosols in the exhaust air are already filtered out during the heating phase so that the room air remains uncontaminated. Chamber contents, the resulting condensate and the filter housing including filter are sterilized with each sterilization process. After successful sterilization, the condensate is disposed of via a dead space-free drain valve in the chamber floor, which enables particularly simple and contamination-free disposal of the condensate. In the event of a fault in the media supply or an unexpected program interruption, the FA module switches off automatically. The FA module exhaust air filtration with condensate sterilization can be optimally combined with VARIOKLAV® cooling, vacuum and drying modules.
